How much does a haircut cost in Amarillo?
A haircut in Amarillo ranges from about $20 at a walk-in chain to roughly $175 for a fully designed cut at a specialty salon.
At WHITEFOX, a women's cut and styling runs $87 to $137, and a transformational cut, meaning a significant reshape rather than a maintenance visit, runs $131 to $175.
Current ranges for every service we offer are published on our pricing page.
That is a wide spread for what looks like the same service, so it is worth being clear about what moves the number.
What actually drives the investment
Length and density. More hair takes more time, and thick hair takes more time again. A precision shape on dense, waist-length hair is a different appointment from the same shape on a fine bob.
How much reshaping is involved. Maintaining an existing shape is quicker than building a new one. A cut that has to correct someone else's layering, or grow out a shape that was wrong for the hair, sits at the top of the range.
Texture. Curly and wavy hair is cut dry, curl by curl, which takes longer than cutting straight hair wet. That is not an upcharge for having curls, it is the only accurate way to cut them.
Who is holding the shears. A senior stylist charges more than an academy stylist. Both are trained to the same WHITEFOX method, and our academy rates start at $72 for cuts, which is a real option if the investment is the deciding factor.
Whether styling is included. At WHITEFOX it is. Every cut finishes styled, so the number you see is the number you pay.
What the range gets you here
Cut and styling at $87 to $137 covers the consultation, a dry assessment of how your hair actually falls, the cut itself, a finish style, and a maintenance window telling you when to come back before the shape stops working.
The transformational range at $131 to $175 is for hair that needs a real design decision, not a refresh. Growing out a bad layering job, moving from long to a lob, or building a shape for a texture the last cut ignored.
What is not on the bill: guessing. The plan gets talked through and approved before anything is cut, which is the part of our cuts and styling process that saves the most money over a year.
Why the cheapest cut is rarely the cheapest
A $25 cut you have to fix costs $25 plus the corrective appointment plus however many weeks you spent avoiding photos. That maths turns badly more often than people expect, and it is the single most common story we hear at a first consultation.
There is a quieter cost too. A shape built without regard for your density or growth pattern needs more styling time every single morning. Twenty extra minutes a day for two months is a real price, it is just not on a receipt.
Luxury doesn't mean complicated. It means consistent.
If you would rather know the number before you commit, that is reasonable, and it is why our ranges are public. Become a WHITEFOX Guest and you will get a tailored quote at your consultation, before any shears come out.
Add-ons worth knowing about
A cut is often paired with something else, and it changes the total. A WHITEFOX blowout runs $70 to $95 and a LUX blowout $98 to $160, which is the pairing most guests choose before an event. Color reserved alongside a cut is quoted separately, and the current color ranges are on the pricing page.
Your stylist will tell you what a combined appointment costs and how long to block out, so nothing lands as a surprise at the desk.
How to get an accurate number before you reserve
Send photos of your hair as it looks now, not styled. Say how long it has been since your last cut and what happened at it. Mention if the last cut needs correcting. Those three pieces of information are usually enough for the front desk to place you accurately inside the range.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a women's haircut in Amarillo? Expect roughly $20 to $40 at a walk-in chain and $85 to $175 at a specialty salon. At WHITEFOX, cut and styling runs $87 to $137 and a transformational cut runs $131 to $175, with academy cuts starting at $72.
Is styling included in the price of a haircut? At WHITEFOX, yes. Every cut finishes with a style. Some salons charge the blow-dry separately, so it is worth asking before you reserve anywhere.
Why do haircut prices vary so much between salons? Time and training, mostly. A designed cut includes a consultation, a dry assessment and a finish style, and it is priced for the stylist's experience. A quick clipper or scissor trim with no consultation is a shorter appointment and priced accordingly.
Do you offer a cheaper option? Yes. Our academy stylists are trained to the same method and their cuts start at $72. Availability is more limited, so ask the front desk what is open.
Do you charge more for curly hair? Not for the curl itself. Curly and wavy hair is cut dry and section by section, which takes longer, and longer appointments sit higher in the range. Your stylist will tell you where you land before she starts.
Should I tip on a haircut? It is customary and appreciated, though never expected. If you would rather not carry cash, the front desk can handle it on the card.
You should know the number before you sit down, and now you do. When you are ready to have a cut designed rather than guessed at, reserve with WHITEFOX or call the salon at (806) 236-6047 and we will place you with the right stylist.
